4x4 Rims
First, figure out which tires you already have or would like on your 4x4. Next, look at your lug pattern; this refers to the number and position of bolts required to attach the rims to your axle. These patterns are not universal, and it would be embarrassing to purchase a set of rims that couldn't be mounted on your vehicle. After you determine your tire size and lug pattern, then you select the rim to fit those characteristics. The strength of your rims is decided by both their construction and the materials from which they are made. Steel two-piece rims are the least expensive type, but are very strong and heavy. Forged aluminum one-piece rims are much lighter, and relatively strong as well. Beadlock wheels are available in both steel and aluminum and have reinforced outer rings. These reinforcements make beadlock wheels the strongest type, but also the most expensive. If you are simply buying new 4x4 rims to improve the appearance of your vehicle, then you can dispense with the details and decide for yourself what looks good. Wheels and lug nuts are available in an insane range of finishes, and while certain hubcaps might look odd on a Wrangler, there are many 4x4 friendly hubcaps on the market. Purchasing new 4x4 rims doesn't need to be horribly complicated, and the results should be completely enjoyable.
