Off Road PartsWhen most people think about off road parts, they immediately think about tires and lift kits, but there are many more areas of your 4x4 that need protecting and securing before you attempt your first canyon wall. Your lights, radiator and fenders aren't designed to play chicken with boulders and win. Consequently, many off road vehicles have tubular metal frames of varying sizes in front of the front and back lights. Radiators can be protected by similar frames that extend up from very solid bumpers, and your fenders can be protected against dings and dents by an attached metal overlay. There are also moving parts on your undercarriage which won't appreciate being whacked against a tree stump, and for these we have skid plates for full or partial coverage. In a normal car, items can be placed in the trunk or cargo area and you can be fairly certain that they will be in the same place when you get home. However, 4x4 vehicles have the potential to bounce a bit more than a normal passenger car, often with enough force to get a full gas can airborne. Consequently, most off road parts suppliers carry an extensive collection of cages, nets, tie-downs and boxes which ensure that your gear gets to the campsite at the same time you do. There are certain parts on a 4x4 vehicle which are nearly interchangeable with their pavement-bound cousins. Air filters and spark plugs, for instance are nearly universal, while certain engine parts are specific to an engine rather than the vehicle wrapped around it. However, there are times when your off road vehicle needs off road parts in order to function properly.
