Review for RedRock Multi-Function Platform Style Aluminum Roof Rack (18-25 Jeep Wrangler JL w/ OE...

Starting with the good. Extremely sturdy, surprisingly heavy duty, bolts and welds seem to imply that if you lifted a jeep from this rack with a crane it would be the jeep that fails before the rack. Plenty of track to put universal accessories in as well. I put this on a 2 door and it covers from front to back perfectly.

Great. Now to get there you have to deal with instructions that are just plain confusing, wrong, and incomplete. Its a simple device so you don't really need much guidance but what they provide is very poor.

It is 100% assembled by you with as many pieces as there can be. This means if you have any hope of keeping this square you better build this flat against a wall and use a bubble level - a lot, and get ready to fiddle with tightening and loosening for a solid 15 minutes.

Then the very beefy and strong clamps that hold it on to the jeep were slightly mis-drilled and were very difficult to line up a bolt through. The very important washers that go on those clamps would have never fit the way the slotted holes were drilled. I'll have to buy some appropriately sized ones on my own. Oh and the three inserts for the wind deflector/silencer dont actually fit and you cant use it. I wonder if that's why its not in the instructions.

There are many ways to improve on this design, with slightly more elegant steps with more positive keys to avoid an endless trapazoid and simple slotting instead of a simple round hole. You can ignore all that if you just fix the instructions though.

At the end of the day I got a roof rack thats rock solid and feels very strong, so I'm happy.
